Imran "Baldy" Shahid, jailed for a minimum of 25 years for the brutal race hate murder of teenager Kriss Donald, is said to have been "squealing like a pig" after an attack in Saughton Prison left him cut from his neck to his buttocks.
Shahid, 34, was jailed in 2006 for his part in the horrific 2004 murder of Kriss Donald, a murder motivated purely by racial hatred and accorded far less press coverage than similar crimes simply because the victim was white.
Muslim Shahid, who has hit the news recently after it emerged he was suing the Scottish government and prison authorities after claiming that being placed in segregation for his own protection caused him sleep problems, and to occasionally miss attending Muslim Friday prayers, seems to have angered other inmates with is bullying ways.
He had allegedly tried to extort money from other prisoners and threatened other inmates with violence against their families on the outside if they did not co-operate with him.
It had been claimed that there is a £20,000 bounty on Shahids life.
A prison source quoted by the Daily Record claimed that "They lunged at his back and plunged a razor blade into him, ripping him open from his neck to his a***. He was squealing like a pig and he had to get treatment from the medics"
"This was just a warning because the Edinburgh guys wanted him out. If the prison officers hadn't been so quick off the mark, Baldy would have been a dead man".
He has now been returned to segregation for his own safety - although, given his legal action against the prison for segregating him to begin with, perhaps authorities might have been perfectly justified in deciding he had no wish be segregated and left him in the general population.
Seems fair, it's somewhat of a mockery he can sue because he's segregated, then rush back to segregation so he can be kept safe from all the other prisoners he has angered.
