The Office for the Children’s Commissioner is launching a two-year investigation into the “scale, scope and extent of the sexual exploitation, victimisation and abuse that girls and boys are subjected to by street gangs and loosely formed groups in England.”
Good, all children deserve to be protected from this horrific catalogue of abuse and exploitation. However it looks as if the whitewash has already been decided upon.
The press release has already seemingly decided upon one conclusion, namely that “The emerging evidence is that the children and perpetrators involved are very diverse and seem to reflect the local demographic of where the abuse is taking place. It would be wrong for anyone to conclude or assert that this is an issue for one particularly ethnic community.”
We indeed know that paedophiles come from all communities and races, that is not disputed, but we have only to look at names and photographs in the vast majority of recent major grooming and paedophile gangs to see that some communities appear to be over represented as perpetrators.
Of course they are not the only offenders, but it is certainly suggestive that in case after case involving gangs of men raping and abusing young girls we see names like Mohammed and Hussein popping up again and again.
A recent attempt by the Child Exploitation and Protection centre (CEOP) to research patterns of child street grooming found that 26% of offenders were Asian.
Although based on a relatively small sample of cases, and questions have been raised as to the quality of the data, one suspects that it might well be accurate.
“I would send a note of caution about trying to extrapolate anything from this. Looking at this issue through the lens of ethnicity does not do the victims any favour” said Peter Davies, director of CEOP at the time.
One would take issue with that, looking at it through the lens of ethnicity is certainly essential if – as we see in the news – there is seemingly a propensity for ‘Asian’ men to rape and abuse white girls.
Authorities certainly wouldn’t hesitate about looking at ethnicity factors if, for example, gangs of white men were raping and abusing hundreds, or thousands, of Muslim schoolgirls.
Since police/prisons record ethnicity as standard these days, surely it would be a simple enough process to examine convictions nationally and see if a given race or religion was over represented. Time consuming it might be, but surely our children are worth the effort?
That is most likely a truth the authorities would rather we didn’t find out though, community cohesion appears to matter more to them than our children do.
Should such figures be revealed then we would doubtless find an epidemic of Asian perpetrated sexual offences. Relative to population size, Asian males would be proven to be committing a significantly higher amount of child sexual abuse crimes.
Governments would fall if people knew the true scale of the suffering which has been inflicted upon our children, and ignored in the name of sensitivity and community cohesion.
It is high time that authorities stopped making excuses and faced up to the horrifying truth of what is going on in Britain today. Our children are more important than anything else.
Just how much longer will this nightmare be allowed to continue?
