Children in Need, a television spectacular which does raise a lot of money for many good causes.

Without in any way meaning to knock the effort in itself, one thing that struck me when reading the lists of grants earlier was that there were a considerable amount made to minority/immigrant/asylum seeker type causes.

Another cost imposed by mass immigration, met by charity - a hidden cost if you like since it's still draining away money which could have been spent elsewhere, whether that money comes from donations as in the case of Children in Need, or the many services we support via our taxes.

Notice, of course, nothing specific for indigenous children - but, then again, the BBC would probably call any such project racist, discriminatory, not inclusive enough, or decide to tell us that the indigenous did not exist. Only minority can be dealt with separately and given special support after all.

But, just as an eye opener, here is a list of the a few grants awarded in the South West region this year. Information all comes from the BBC, and it's enlightening to see some of the causes our donations are funding.

Swindon West Indian Community Association - £10,636 - This project will provide a Saturday School for African Caribbean and multiple heritage children, to teach core skills in English, maths, arts and music.

Bristol Community fm - £8,702 - This project will enable Asian and Somali young people to produce their own radio programme in order to increase knowledge of other cultures and offer work skills and experience.

Awaz Utaoh Ltd (Bristol) - £11,000 - This project will provide days out, workshops and a festival for disadvantaged young people from ethnic minority backgrounds to broaden their horizons, learn new skills gain and confidence.

Bristol Refugee Rights - £29,676 - This project will run a creche for asylum seekers and refugee children under 4. This safe play space will help reduce distress and improve communication and language skills.

Bristol Muslim Cultural Society - £65,038 - This project will provide an after school club offering maths and English support and activities, and optional classes in Arabic and Citizenship for 4-11 year olds from ethnic minority backgrounds who are struggling at school.

Plymouth & Devon Racial Equality Council - £21,836 - This project will provide support and activities to young people who have suffered racial abuse and bullying. It will reduce racial abuse and improve their confidence and self esteem.

There, just a selection from the South West. We could have mixed in LGBT groups as well to add to the minority interests as well.

If you really want an eye opener, take a look at the London grants. It reads like a list of asylum seeker/ethnic minority interests. Somalians and Bangladeshis seem to do particularly well.

There's too many to total up in the time available, but the grants for London alone which were given to ethnic minority/asylum seeker orientated projects this year must run into the many £millions.

In many ways it's another hidden cost of the immigration explosion - countless charities and projects relying on donations, grants, and not to mention often government money, in order to deal with the multitude of problems and minority interests which mass immigration has created.

Wonder if these costs, borne by charity - which still for the most part equals the British taxpayer whichever way you look at it - are factored in when we're being told the economic benefits of enrichment. One doubts it.
