Just a few hours ago we brought you news that Lord Hanningfield had been released from prison after serving a miniscule amount of the already derisory sentence he received for fiddling expenses - now it seems the prisons can't free convicted lords quickly enough as news emerges that former Tory Lord Taylor of Warwick has also been released today.
Warwick, whose 'fame' for being the first black member of the House of Lords is eclipsed by his infamy for swindling expenses of over £11,000 from the taxpayer, was jailed for 12 months at the end of May this year.
Interestingly, at the time of his court case, defence lawyers argued that Lord Warwick was a strong role model to black people in the UK, and thus should be given a suspended sentence.
At the time of sentencing, Mr Justice Saunders told Taylor that he had ended up here "not by one stupid action but by a protracted course of dishonesty".
When we first covered the story of Taylors sentencing back at the end of May, we said then that "After 3 months inside he'll be out like nothing happened, and still a poster child for the multicultural cause".
It gives us no pleasure to be proven correct.
So much for stern punishments for those who abused these high positions of trust, a couple months in a holiday camp open prison and say no more about it seems to be the order of the day.
No wonder the British people have no faith in the accountability of politicians and lords, and no confidence that any wrongdoing will be punished severely.
