As Britains educational standards decline, budgets are cut, and children are facing a shortage of schools due to a population which is spiralling out of control, government is finally going to do something about improving schooling.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said proudly of the scheme, The Girls Education Challenge, that "The action we are taking is ambitious and something of which Britain should be enormously proud".
£355million is to be made available for the initiative up til 2015, and it is projected that it will provide education for up to one million young girls.
The only problem?
The project is taking place in Africa and Asia, aimed primarily at priority countries such as Nigeria, Bangladesh, and South Sudan. Nobody in government ever calls Britain a priority when it comes to spending our money.
As an interesting aside, we're told educating them will lower birth rates - perhaps we should try that in Britain too?
We'll not be improving Britains situation, our schools will still labour under the cutbacks imposed by ConDem, we'll still have a shortfall in places, and we'll still have educational standards that have fallen off the chart.
Britain, once again, plays benefactor to the world whilst ignoring our own problems and letting our country slide ever downhill.
That's something to be proud of?
