Dr. HONORIS CAUSA for ARAB SAUDI KING ?
Indonesia is a populous Moslem country in the World, so far had a special relationship, close relationship with Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia since very long time ago and become a history. Arab Saudi Kingdom respectfully by Moslem citizen, as a holy land for every body who afford to visit Makah in Hajj pilgrimage in a whole life.
But grant the King with doctoral degree, honoris causa in humanitarian and technology last August 21, 2011 at the Kingdom Palace, become questionable by some of Indonesia Parliamentary members for unclear motives. This Kingdom had a lots of problems in women migrant workers such as dead penalty, head cut in order to defense their honor facing their employer without any lawyers to defend. And in this situation Universitas Indonesia rector, grant the King, who responsible and had the authority, the last words in death punishement.
So far The King, Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al Saud never heard any politic initiatives, concepts or dedication related with humanitarian and technology
Universitas Indonesia as a World class University recently took a contra position with World Universities awareness about humanitarian. Mankind perspective, collective sensitive become global University awareness recently.So many reports, books, investigation, journals by International or Indonesia institutions as well stated that Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabian were the worst country in women migrant problem handling.
Meantime, Universitas Indonesia rector, Gumilar Ruswita Somantri acknowledged that Honoris causa grant was not a partial analysis just for Indonesia alone but also King roles in Global activities as well that University based upon. Tree years ago University set up a team of 8 Professors from inter discipline departments. Beside, The Kingdom asked to send a team to Saudi Arabia to meet High education ministry. Ultimately last Mey 2011 King Abdul Aziz ready to accept the Honor that taken place in King palace due to His senior age.
To clarify this problem, in the near future, Parliament would summons Universitas Indonesia rector and his Staff and questioned what motive behind the grant.
In the last 3 decades, Universitas Indonesia had been granted 5 Honoris causa, to Prince Narodom Sihanouk, Cambodia, President Ferdinand Marcoas, The Philippines, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Brunei, Abdullah Gul, Turkey President and King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al Saud, Saudi Arabian
