The Great British Cash Giveaway continues with news that we have donated £15,000 to train foreign athletes for the 2012 Olympic games.
The payment, made via the Foreign Office, will pay to train 23 Bolivians who will take part in events including swimming, judo, and horse riding.
Training will take place at the High Altitude Sports Performance Centre in Bolivia, recently visited by Liberal Democrat Foreign Office Minister Jeremy Browne.
"The Olympic Games are the best celebration of sport, but at the same time they are a great celebration of the humanity we share. In the UK we hope to win many medals, and also to meet and share experiences with people of different cultures from across the world" said Browne.
His words may well be prophetic, given Londons hugely diverse makeup, coupled with the huge additional influx the Olympics will bring, it's quite possible many will "meet and share experiences with people of different cultures from across the world".
Pockets picked by one nationality, robbed at knifepoint by another, beaten senseless by a third, steamed by a fourth, terrorist threats from a fifth, the list of meetings and shared experiences goes on.
Yes, we're sure that among all the vibrant diversity there will be many less edifying meetings and "experiences with people of different cultures from across the world", and those are just the people from across the world who are already here!
