Liberal Democrat (In)Equalities minister Lynne Featherstone has told a meeting at the party conference in Birmingham that men make terrible decisions and it's mens fault that the world is in such a mess.
"Because otherwise if you leave it to - I'm going to say men in this case because that's the way the world has worked - you get terrible decisions....Look at the mess the world is in, and look who has been in charge. I leave it there."
Some forms of sexism are all right then, it all depends on who the ism is directed Lynne?
It's an acceptable situation for an 'equalities' minister to lay the blame for the worlds ills at the feet of a single gender?
What about race? Could we point out that some countries are in such a mess because it has been left to 'certain people' to be in charge?
We won't, and of course we wouldn't be allowed even if we wanted to, not without the thought police descending on us whether the statement was true or not.
Lynnes words are apt though, coming from a so called equalities minister - because the whole equalities game is just a redistribution of inequalities.
Some groups are more equal than others, some groups are off limits to criticism, and some are at the bottom of the pile and always in open season.
Equalities are a farce, they are merely inequality given official backing, and where who will be less equal is decided by officialdom.
For once though, we'll give the final word to a Tory, it's rare they've something to say worth listening to, but there are always exceptions.
