Former Labour councillor John Friary, 53, is facing jail after pleading guilty to attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.
Shamed Friary met the 15 year old girl - who turned out to be a be an adult, male blackmailer - online, and was soon begging her for explicit photographs.
Friary told the 'girl' that he would be her father figure, and tried to arrange to meet her allegedly for sex.
Friary, who campaigned with Harriet Harman, resigned as a councillor and was sacked as cabinet member responsible for community safety at Southwark Council after he was arrested.
Sentencing will take place on November 11.
