Well, no shock - we asked about this a while back during the leadership challenge and we got no answer. Now we know why.

The British National Party has not submitted their 2010 statement of accounts to the Electoral Commission.

If we follow on to the news release link we see that - along with ourselves - only that political warhorse and front row contender the "Christian Party - Proclaiming Christ’s Lordship" also failed to submit accounts.

"The majority of parties and accounting units have complied with the law by submitting their accounts on time. However, despite the guidance and advice we offer to help parties comply with the law, two parties have yet again failed to provide accounts on time. This is not acceptable" said Peter Wardle, Chief Executive of the Electoral Commission.

Indeed, it is not acceptable, we agree.

No wonder there was a resounding silence when we asked about Electoral Commission accounts during the leadership challenge.

Sadly, we can't say it's a surprise though, most of us were expecting this. All that remains to be seen now is what excuse we'll use to try and get off with it, and whether or not we'll get slapped with fines or sanctions.

How come nearly every other party can get it right and comply with the rules, and yet we can't?

Very interesting news courtesy of the British Resistance today, that fully half of any money you text to donate to the BNP will go to the network operator rather than the party itself.

At the time of writing we've no way of verifying the claims made on the British Resistance, but also no reason to doubt them - should Clive Jefferson or any other appropriate official care to comment then we will happily print their unedited response here.

Meanwhile, there's no alternative but to advise all readers to exercise extreme caution about donating to the party via txt message - it's better safe than sorry, it's one thing giving our hard earned money to change Britain for the better, quite another giving it to the telecoms companies to rack up huge profits.

Please Central Party, many members do wish to donate - tell us that every penny we send is going to the British National Party, and not to commissions or telecoms company profits.

Shock Report 1: Can the Party Really Be Over £600,000 in Debt?

For some time now it has been alleged that the party is far deeper in debt than BNP Head Office will admit to. This uncertainty has had a significant negative effect on the region particularly in terms of fund raising – with many once generous members and benefactors now refusing to contribute anything at all to central party funds and others going so far as to demand an independent investigation into the party’s financial affairs. We understand that the southwest region is not unique in this respect; all regions appear to be experiencing the same loss of confidence in the management of the party, particularly its finances. Rather than reassuring members, the few statements (and vague ones at that) issued by Head Office to the effect that “we are reducing debt” and that “the debt is manageable”, would only appear to have made matters worse, confirmed the view that the party is in a shockingly bad state of financial health and that it has “something to hide”.

As a consequence of which your regional management team recently commissioned an investigation into the scale of debt, the results of which – to be frank – are extremely worrying and would appear to contradict the “official sound bites” put out by Head Office.

For example: Whereas Head Office would have us believe that the party is currently around £250,000 in debt and that this debt is reducing, the actual evidence suggests that it is well over £600,000 and increasing!

But perhaps most disturbing of all is the inescapable conclusion that this debt has been accrued - not from political persecution - but from a combination of ineptitude, ignorance and arrogance – which is why, presumably, Head Office is apparently now doing its best to conceal or minimise the potentially lethal threat posed by this debt to the very existence of the party.

We have listed those creditors so far identified below, together with the amounts allegedly owed and creditor contact numbers (if applicable) should you wish to contact them to verify the alleged debt. Unfortunately it has to be recognised that there may well be other creditors out there of whom we know nothing yet, meaning that the real level of debt could be considerably higher than that detailed below – particularly bearing in mind ongoing court cases, which the party is deemed unlikely to win and interest on debts and unpaid court settlements. Either way the list does not make for pleasant reading.
