Thanks to the UK governments woeful security precautions it now seems as if the entire 2011 census has been stolen by hackers.

Hacking group LulzSec, who have previously hacked/attacked such secure places as the CIA and SOCA, claims to have obtained the entire census and says that they will be releasing it via online p2p site The Pirate Bay.

"We have blissfully obtained records of every single citizen who gave their records to the security-illiterate UK government for the 2011 census" said a posting from the group.

An arrest is said to have been made in connection with the hacking offences, namely one Ryan Cleary who was arrested in Essex this morning by members of Scotland Yards specialist cyber crime unit.

So far officials are investigating claims that the census has fallen into the hands of hackers, but are downplaying it for the moment and neither confirming or denying that there has been a security breach.

When it all shows up on The Pirate Bay we'll keep you updated, and doubtless the whole of the UK will be angered to see their census returns online, not to mention get an advance peek at the way in which our country has been colonised - a fact which the politicians would rather have kept quiet for a few decades.

All we can do is wait and see. LulzSec have not got a track record of hoaxes, only one of successful hacking attacks and validatable claims, so in all likelihood it really does seem as if there will be a copy of the census out there in the hands of cyber criminals.

Watch this space, if it is out there it is bound to be in the public domain soon. Aren't you all glad you trusted the government with all of that intrusive and personal information now?
