Research carried out by Age UK, using figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, has revealed that spending on social care for the elderly has been cut by a massive £610 million, or 8.4%.
The charity obtained information from 139 out of 152 local authorities, and the picture painted was one of care being slashed heavily compared to previous years.
"Funding for social care is already inadequate and the system today is failing many older people at the time when they really need help" said Michelle Mitchell, director of Age UK.
Of course, the government is disputing the accuracy of the figures.
We've said it time and again on this site, the elderly are neglected and forgotten, betrayed by the country which they have spent their entire life contributing to.
Foreign aid may be going through the roof, there's always some money when it comes to insane political correct causes, and of course there's plenty to spare to wage a few wars, but when it comes to our own pensioners there's never enough.
Cutbacks upon cutbacks, that's what you get for being old and British. Thank you ConDem.
