100 hours of community service, and £350 - that's what the life of Colin Lewis, left to suffer for eight days after care workers covered up an accident during which he broke his hip, is worth.

Stroke victim Colin Lewis, 75, fell from his bed but nurse Euphemia Ntintili (South Africa) and care assistant Alfug Andom (Cameroon) covered up the accident at Penlee Nursing Home in Weston Super Mare.

The injury, and the details surrounding it, only emerged when it was too late. After 8 days without treatment Mr Lewis was finally admitted to hospital, where he died of complications arising from the injury.

Both Ntintili and Andom had denied neglect, but were found guilty at Bristol Crown Court.

Their punishment? Ntintili was given 140 hours of community service, and Andom got 100 hours of community service. Both were ordered to pay £350 in court costs.

Another care worker involved in the incident, Elwira Koziel (Poland), had already admitted to her involvement in the neglect and received a caution.

Does it look like they'll be booted out of Britain, or even banned from working in care homes here again? Take a guess.
