Back in March we covered the case of a alleged Peruvian war criminal living in Tiverton, yet another charming reminder of the great people who are flocking to our shores and enriching our nation.

Original Story
Rodrigo Grande-Vargas has now appeared before Exeter Magistrates Court where he has entered a plea of guilty to possessing a fake Spanish passport. Of course, if you haven't guessed it, the guilty plea was entered via an interpreter.

Quoted by the Mid Devon Gazette, Prosecutor Neil Lawson told the court that "The defendant entered the country in 2002 seeking asylum from his home country Peru. He was twice spoken to by the UK Border Agency to provide support for his application for asylum. He has given very detailed accounts of his past in that country and his involvement with others in the detention, torture and killing of numerous persons in that country"

Contrary to previous reports, it is now being said that Vargas had his claim for asylum rejected.

Exeter magistrates declined jurisdiction of the case, and Vargas was remanded into custody until sentencing can take place at Exeter Crown Court.

Inquiries into his war crimes are continuing, but how about a simple solution which would save the British taxpayer money and hopefully be agreeable to all concerned, other than Vargas himself - let's ship him back to Peru, the authorities there can take charge of the investigation into the horrendous crimes he is alleged to have committed, and can handle any necessary punishment. Or, is that too simple?
