The BBC's Panorama program has exposed a torture camp, ran by Zimbabwe security forces, which is operating in the diamond rich Marange area.

An internal document, handed to the BBC, shows the EU pushing to allow diamonds from two mines in the area to be approved for export, saying that it was confident the mines now meet international standards.

Prisoners who have been held at the camp tell of beatings, women being raped, mock drownings, and dogs being set on inmates.

The Panorama episode, called "Mugabes Blood Diamonds", is available on the BBC iPlayer and is well worth a watch - http://www.blogger.com/goog_2140534234

What is also worth noting is that Zimbabwe, which is also home to an ethnic cleansing program directed at whites there, is a major recipient of UK development aid.

According to the Department for International Development (DFID) "We will spend an average of £88 million per year in Zimbabwe until 2015. But if political transition takes place during the period we will significantly scale up the development programme to help a reforming government"

What political transition is this? The arrival of a government which isn't conducting policies of ethnic cleansing, and one which does not have security forces who will torture citizens?

Either way we'll keep on giving the money though, Mugabe and his thuggish henchmen may want to hound whites out of the country but they're quick enough to take money from a predominantly white country like Britain.

Worse, we're stupid enough to give it to them.
