The BBC, ever willing when it comes to frittering away the TV tax which we are all forced to pay, spent close to £1million hiring actors to help train managers.

Obtained under the Freedom of Information act, we see our money wasted on such wonderful causes as Diversity Training (does that really shock you, wonder if they harassed the acting agencies to find a one legged black Muslim transgender woman actress), and a "Courageous Conversations" course to help bosses have difficult conversations with under-performing staff.

Money was also spent on actors to play the role of "disgruntled employees" - which could have been saved just by grabbing up some of the BBC's own staff who are already pretty disgruntled, and indeed going on strike in some areas.

A source at the BBC said that "These courses are considered a total and utter joke – it's like something from The Office – you expect David Brent to walk in at any minute".
