Bristol City Council, faced with a shortage of primary school places, have done what the usual suspects in charge always do when there's a problem needs fixing and an inconvenient truth which nobody dares to speak, and blamed each-other.
The council, faced with having to find 3,000 school places in just the next 4 years, and with many local parents already unable to get their children into their primary school of choice, just bickers.
However, it seems that they do agree on one thing.
A motion tabled by the Conservatives refers to the current crises being the "direct result of a lamentable lack of foresight and failure to properly plan for the changing demography of Bristol".
The Liberal Demorcats blame it on "the changing demography of Bristol" but of course say that this is not a result of their poor planning for it.
Changing demography, at least they both seem to agree on that. But, what is it which is changing about the demography?
Bristols Schools census 2010 tells us plainly. Quoted directly from the councils press release, "The latest schools census information, collected in January, shows that 32% of primary school pupils and 29% of secondary school pupils in Bristol are from black and minority ethnic backgrounds".
We covered that story back in March - http://www.blogger.com/goog_305938391
All that the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, and Labour, have to offer is buck passing and a game of blame the other guy. It's all of their faults, and none of them are going to do a thing about it other than cast around for someone else to blame.
None of them are going to stand up for the local people of Bristol, they'll just bicker, try and plaster over a few gaps, and ignore the fact that this is a problem which is only going to get worse year on year.
