Mikhail Mohammad, who changed his name after converting to Islam, not to mention the fact that it helped to hide his previous convictions for a sexual offence, has been jailed for ten years after being found guilty of raping a 13 year old pupil at the school where he worked.

Mohammad, who had been jailed for 30 months in 1991 after admitting to indecently assaulting a partners daughter, managed to evade security checks and of course failed to declare his previous conviction, and obtained work at a Nottingham school.

After befriending the 13 year olds family he lured her back to his flat in November 2010 - where he raped her in a bedroom.

"You took her back to your house and there in your bedroom you raped her. The courts well know that victims such as this may suffer for years as a result of what has been done to them and some may never recover from such an attack" said Judge Teare in sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court.

Oddly, the BBC makes no mention whatsoever of the reason for Mohammads name change - namely that he converted to Islam at some point between his initial indecent assault and the rape for which he has now been jailed - although it may seem obvious from the name 'Mohammad'. At least the 'Metro' dated 11/07/2011 and available free on trains had the courage to say it outright.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the rape, which he denied, and a further 9 months for failing to disclose a previous conviction, which he admitted. He'll also be placed on the sex offenders register for life, and will be disqualified from working with children.
